She has consulted for large beauty companies as in LOREAL PARIS, and worked on television shows for TLC, TBS, BET, MTV, and TV ONE, as well as worked with nationally acclaimed speakers as in Lisa Nichols and award winning entertainers such as Steve Harvey, Anthony Mackie, Ruby Dee, Eric Benet,Chrisette Michelle Hector Elizondo and Eminem. She was also listed in the Who's Who in Black Detroit, and  she is the best-selling author of The Blended Family Survival Guide on Getting Married With Children, Yours or Somebody Else's!. She is an acclaimed teacher, speaker and consultant.

How did I learn all this? How can my expertise benefit you?…
While in college earning a degree in Psychology, I was forced to learn how to completely style and cut my own hair after several botched salon experiences. One day someone asked if I could do the same hairstyle on them, and being a broke college student I asked two questions: #1 How much are you paying?, and #2 Which way to your dorm room?. Soon I was prompted by a friend whose Mom owned a Cosmetology School to get licensed, so I went to day classes in psychology at the university, evening classes at the cosmetology school, worked the grave yard shift at the Greyhound station to pay my way through school, and was a shampoo girl on the weekends. My thought always was if you work hard when you're young, it will pay off later. To this day, I still don't know how I did it!

After college, I took my first big leap of faith
After graduation, I split my time between working in management at the bus station and as a hairstylist in some of the top salons. I became very diverse in all textures and specialized techniques, and was a highly sought after hairstylist, but it would be a chance moment on a production set that would be the first of many A- HA moments that would change my path forever. . . .

I had the opportunity to go on a shoot for a recording artist album cover. Watching the synergy of the photographer, art director, camera crew, and beauty team made me feel undeniably at home. I loved the feel of working on a production, capturing moments in time, grooming, and the art of visually telling a story - I found out that this the role I could play on that set was called being a celebrity makeup and hair artist - and I knew I had found my place. I began studying makeup to make myself well rounded, and became equally strong at both hair and makeup. Being one of the few artists to do both hair and makeup equally well, and also have the skill set to groom men, kept me working.

It wouldn't be long before film sets, photography sessions, and advertising campaigns began to come more frequently, and I found myself becoming a full time freelance celebrity makeup and hair artist. My work in the industry has been nearly 100% referral, putting me in high demand for production companies. I gravitated towards working one-on-one with clients and because I had the diversity in my services, It made me someone that high profile clients and celebrities could trust to deliver quality service and a pleasant experience.

"The Beginning of Discovering My Own Brand ..."


Consulting for large brands
I had worked on so many productions and represented numerous top brands, that I began taking a closer look at building my own brand. Having done everything from managing a team of artists, working with high profile clients, leading trainings, to consulting thousands of women around the country, I made an official decision to begin focusing on building a business off of my knowledge and experience, and my natural desire to see people be their personal best. This transition included authoring and publishing a best selling book, creating videos, consulting, and speaking.

Learning how to tell people's story....
Years of working on film and television sets had done more than just fuel my love of the beauty industry. I had another  "A-ha" moment when I realized I had not only been on those sets as an artist, but also was taking in all the elements of production including story telling, filming, directing, and lighting.

As I began to be more interested in telling people's story, I had the opportunity to learn how to do videography, take a class in filmmaking, and interned in the development department of an innovative and award winning production studio. Through this process I added another distinction to my skill set - being able to not only make people look good through grooming, but through videography, directing, and packaging their story.

  • Not to mention I had been coaching for my entire life

  • AND a degree in psychology, which had always helped me really understand and access my clients needs.

All of the years of experience gave me a groundbreaking, multi-faceted edge that made my personal consulting services quite unique and set apart from any image consulting firm, production company, or even makeup studios. Add to that my husband being a personal trainer and weightloss coach, and together, we are able to offer our clients literally all they need to succeed in their image and business.

After hearing so many women talk about their frustrations with buying tons of makeup, and not knowing how to use the makeup when they got home, coupled with seeing professionals and individuals have great influence, but lack direction in their image, I decided that there needed to be a more well rounded approach to creating looks for clients that would not only be signature, but would also remain authentic to who they were.

Realizing that just like a good recipe, every ingredient of one's image should work together and complement the other, I found myself giving more and more advice to help clients, friends, and family begin reinventing and establishing their image.

My first start at officially coaching and consulting would come after being approached by a client who was launching a new business. The client was a powerhouse in her field, but would often get overlooked and failed to get high exposure opportunities. The reality was that her expertise and image did not reflect the same credibility - they weren't a match.

After going through consulting and coaching with my client, she gained a new confidence, begin making good choices when it came to dressing day to day and for events, and knew how to maintain what had become her own signature look. But what came after the process surprised us both as we watched her business grow, speaking engagements increase, and her confidence soar both in her professional and personal life. Her image was elevated to speak to both her brilliance and her greatness, and now every time she steps into a room to this day, she exudes confidence and you now both her image and knowledge BOTH speak to her greatness.

Today, I help my clients have beautiful success in their professional and personal life through creating their signature visual brand. I empower them to maintain their image on a daily basis through my simple, time-proven method to unearthing, polishing, and naturally showcasing their visual brand to accelerate their business and simplify their daily grooming routine. Clients from all over the world in multiple industries hire me as their visual brand strategist and image coach because of my ability to “show them who they really are, and take them to the next level' in their image.
